We just love America around here. Can't you see his excitement?
ME:
I read this book (Happier at Home...from the author of The Happiness Project) and one of her ideas is to do celebration breakfasts for minor* holidays and I think it is such a fun plan!
BRANDON:
(Pause) Yes, because what you need is something else on your plate.
So, thanks to the dollar section at Target & food coloring, we had a very low key, but festive WE LOVE AMERICA breakfast!*July 4th is NOT a minor holiday, but it was the next one after I read the book and I think it is a fun tradition to start!
My family mostly just humors me.
And, of course, we hit up the parade because a little rain can't stop us from celebrating America! He has not missed the parade since he was born, so we had to go!
He was so excited to see all of the vehicles, splash in puddles and eat the candy off of the street. He said the parade was his favorite part of the day, which was not a surprise to me. Who doesn't like soggy tootsie rolls?
Love these 2 American boys!
I don't cook/bake for a reason, but I do love a festivity, so this was my best shot.
I have a feeling this is how every picture of us is going to look so I better get prepared for uncooperative boys.
And, in a random twist, we visited the fire station with some of our favorite people! We ran into Tess at the parade & she invited us to deliver cookies to the firemen. The Waibels are pretty thoughtful people and we just got to tag along!
And, our Max got to take a pic with Tess' Max!
The rain did not prevent us from doing some fireworks, but we had to stick to sparklers. I am seriously a bit afraid how much Anderson likes fire.
Happy Birthday to a country that I am so proud to live in that I am just giddy thinking about it!

HAPPY 4TH....Your love of life is contagious. Glad we could share with you.
ReplyDeleteHis face in the sparkler picture. Hilarious. He is so focused on the fire,
ReplyDeleteLove max and max. And the boy on his first 4th of July! I think it's fitting ths his first two holiday were Memorial Day and 4th of July.
Yay America and Yay Glover Boys!!! They are growing up to be true patriots :)
ReplyDeleteLove the breakfast idea. Love the personalized shirts. Love the soggy tootsie rolls and fireman boots. LOVE the patriotic patch. Love how your family just humors you like mine does.- so thoughtful. Oh my goodness, I just love this post!
ReplyDeleteWe had crazy rain and soggy candy at our parade this year too. Easton still hasn't stopped talking about all the fire trucks, etc. though... so totally worth it! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe patriotic outfits are adorable but the patch is just plain AWESOME. How did I miss that one on ortopad pic-a-patch?!?! I feel like placing an order now just for that pattern!!!
Fun breakfast idea, fun post!
Somehow I missed that patch too! Looks like a great day. Parades are awesome and my boy likes fire too. And "boomers" as he calls the fireworks.
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable! I love the breakfast idea, I am totally going to try that on Labor Day!
