August is always a special time in our lives as it is filled with long hours at work, back to school franticness and trying to create new normals/new routines. Luckily, we managed to throw a few celebrations right in the midst of it all.
Celebration for sure-Noni kept the boys one night & we were so tired that instead of actually leaving our house, we just ordered PeiWei and fell asleep by 9pm. That, my friends, is what you call winning.
We did manage to get it together enough to go eat for Austin's birthday and it was so much fun to celebrate him with everyone. Eden ordered a fun cake & Max was incredibly eager to participate in that part of the evening.
We celebrated "National Dog Day" by giving Chloe lots of hugs, which she was clearly thrilled about. Our girl had some kind of stomach issue for about 2 weeks, which resulted in lots of carpet cleaning for us, but she is finally back to normal.
Also, does anyone else notice that it is "National Dog Day" at least once a month on social media? I am so confused.
Nicole & I celebrated our birthday with a festive green cake (thanks Noni) & lots of hovering kids. It was really fun to be able to spend the evening with Nicole on our actual birthday.
Mom took the older kids to pick out gifts for us & I always love to see what Anderson thinks I will like. He usually does a pretty good job. Also, to be clear, the orange fish was not for me-he apparently got a "Happy Birthday Mama" gift on that outing, as well.
Mom always keeps it festive for us!
Max is SUCH a better sleeper than Anderson & I am so grateful that God made 50% of my kids somewhat normal when it comes to sleep. He takes forever to fall asleep at night (preschool naptime= my arch nemesis,) but once he is asleep he usually only wakes up once in the middle of the night demanding that I turn his nightlight back on. He almost always sleeps later than Anderson too, which requires zero effort as Anderson needs about 4.5 hours of sleep each night.
Anyway, one morning while I was getting ready for work, they both woke up and I was able to convince them to go back to sleep until it was time for them to get up. I don't think I have ever seen them sleeping in the same bed and they just looked so sweet laying there that I could not resist a pic.
This is not really a celebration, but I have already included it, so it is going to stay here.
I work with AMAZING people-true story. Tammi organized a surprise lunch for my birthday & it was so sweet and delicious. We didn't actually get to eat it until school was out that day (I cannot explain the craziness of our days. It is incomprehensible unless you live it, I swear.), so it was more like an early dinner, but it was still so yummy and so thoughtful.
Later in August, we got to celebrate Brandon! I remember celebrating his 23rd birthday when we first met and I am so grateful that we have had so many years together so far. Also, I am so grateful that GG lives down the street and made that cake for him because, let's be honest, my best effort is just not the same thing as an edible cake. Brandon has been working a million hours, so it was nice to be able to spend extra time with him this month, too.
So much to celebrate! Happy August!
