We went to Orlando to see Harry for Fall Break.
It was amazing.
We have been planning this trip for what seems like FOREVER and I think that we were all surprised when the week finally arrived. I think we might be the only people who have ever gone to Orlando and not hit up Disney World, but our kids could care less about any Disney character, Universal is cheaper and really just more fun for adults/boys.
I am doing a few separate posts because I possibly took close to 500 pictures and I really do not want to cram the whole journey into one.
First up, of course, is Harry.
As in all things, this trip just kept getting more free.
On a whim, I decided to call Universal and see if I could set it up so that Anderson could be the kid chosen for the "show" at Ollivander's. I explained how Harry is the only superhero that wears glasses and his story really helped us through some rough years. I was NOT trying to get anything free. In fact, if your kid is chosen, you basically have to buy the wand, which I was totally willing to do.
Well....the man on the phone said he could not do that, but decided Anderson should be able to get a wand AND a robe since he is basically going to Hogwarts soon. Those were not his exact words, but I could read between the lines. So, we picked up a $176 gift card which basically covered all of our souvenirs, including a 46 piece Build Your Own Spongebob.
This is a horrible picture, but I love it because it captures how much I love my family. We were in line for Universal at 6:30 AM, which means we had to leave our hotel around 6am to walk there. I mean, in line, in the dark at dawn for Harry. My husband is a trooper.
I actually cried when I turned the corner and saw Gringott's just sitting there, waiting for us to pose.
I mean, MY FAMILY WAS IN DIAGON ALLEY. We were actually in Diagon Alley in the dark, but I lightened this pic a little so you can see us.
Posing at Platform 9 3/4
We rode over to Hogsmeade on the Hogwarts Express.
I feel like Harry has to be a UT fan, right?
Just casting a spell, like a pro.
Seriously, The Wizarding World is SO well done. They have these interactive places where you can cast a spell and actually make things happen. The details in all of the shops and restaurants just made my heart so happy.
Breakfast at Three Broomsticks!
Butterbeer and margaritas at Hog's Head!!!
I mean, I literally could not even handle my life in these moments.
These are a little out of order, but this is when his wand was choosing him. Coincidentally, it has the same phoenix feather as Harry's.
Brandon was actually better at the spell casting than any of us and anyone around us, which was hilarious.
Oh, you know....JUST THE KNIGHT BUS!
Also, that shrunken head was hilarious because someone was voicing him and he kept harassing Max.
YOU CAN DIAL THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC!
Breakfast ( a different day) at The Leaky Cauldron.
We made a stop at Honeydukes and bought these giant suckers which might have actually been the highlight of the trip for them. I am not even kidding.
I cannot handle any of it.
Max did not understand the Harry obsession at all. I mean, he was so confused how we kept ending up back in Harry Potter World. But, that sucker helped a lot.
I made a stop at Florean Forescue's Ice Cream Parlour and bought a "Strawberry and Peanut Butter" solely because that is the kind that Harry bought for him, Ron & Hermione. My tastebuds wanted chocolate, but my heart won out.
By the end of it, Max was starting to see the light!
In case I did not make it clear, we LOVED our time in The Wizarding World.
