I TOOK A NAP (& other exciting tidbits from our 11th year of marriage celebration)

So, this guy and I have been together for 15 years and married for 11. I am trying to figure out how that is possible when I still feel like I am exactly 17 years old.

We realized that we have not been on a vacation by ourselves SINCE OUR HONEYMOON, 11 years ago, and immediately decided to remedy that tragedy with a quick trip to Asheville. We were gone about 36 hours and it was, quite possibly, some of the most amazing 36 hours of the last decade.

We stayed in a Bed & Breakfast that was cozy, within walking distance of downtown and provided delicious food. I read 2 entire books and took the most fulfilling nap of my life. We hung out, watched TV, ate, napped, ate some more, slept some more, toured the Biltmore and did not tell anyone to stop whining ONE TIME.

I definitely recommend this book. I am now fascinated with her story.

Fancy snacks and drinks.

Nothing says "Happy Anniversary" like sushi and beer.

We also managed to find lots of chocolate during our short trip.

Touring the Biltmore was really cool & made me grateful that I do not have to clean a house that big.

Perhaps the highlight of the trip was when Brandon managed to get pooped on by one of 2 lizards that he caught during our Biltmore walk.

He is some kind of lizard whisperer, which is clearly where Anderson's genes have duplicated.

One of them dropped it's tail and I brought it home for the boys as their souvenir. I am torn between this being incredibly weird or incredibly awesome and I am leaning more toward awesome.

I am so grateful for the time we got to spend away, just stuffing our faces.

It wasn't as filling or delicious as what I usually make for breakfast, but we took one for the team and settled for it.

After our Biltmore visit, we went back to our room and didn't leave until the next day. I finished my first book, TOOK A NAP, ate M&Ms for dinner, drank coffee and...wait for it....relaxed. I am now hooked and am determined to find another nap in my life sometime in the next decade.

I am so grateful for this guy who works so hard to take care of us (these were his 1st official days off all year,) always puts us first and put up with hippie Asheville because he recognized my need to get the heck away for a bit.

I am 100% sure that we will not wait 11 more years to go away and be us for a bit.

I know you are wondering where these 2 guys were during this trip. Of course you know the answer to that question and, yes, we are so grateful for the grandmas!

In fact, Eden let us know about a festival that was happening at her work and GG took the boys to go on rides, eat hot dogs and climb in fire trucks.

Also, I have to give a shout out to Max's "Wedding Pants," which he has adopted as his new outfit of choice. It is the first time in 4 years that he has chosen something that resembles actual clothing!

  1. The wedding pants sort of steal the show here.

Also, how much food did you possibly eat in 36 hours?

  2. I love this. Especially the sushi and beer. And the nap. And the fact that you guys are so cute together - 11 years in! Happy anniversary!
