I am SO proud of how hard Anderson has worked so far in kindergarten and how much progress that he has already shown. His teacher is amazing, I love the organization of his school and I thank God every day that the nap time death trap has left us and he is FINALLY asleep by 9 on most nights.
Anderson decorated his "Me" bag for school. This was the extent of his decorating and even this took a lot of bribing.
Also, how much do I LOVE my kid's enthusiasm for Abraham Lincoln in that pic?? I will overlook the fact that he does not care at all for coloring because he loves/respects the leaders of the free country.
His first homework project was a "Me Bag" and he had to choose 3 things to describe him, so he chose Max, a football and the Titanic.
I am clearly feeling the love since I was not only left out, but beaten by a giant, sunken boat.
Homework is real around here.
I was trying to mix it up and do it outside so he would not complain as much.
Anderson's first History project-Johnny Appleseed Day!
Didn't you know that neon clothes were all the rage on the frontier? Seriously, you should have seen the throw down when I tried to make him wear jeans. I will choose my battles and that was not one that made the cut that day.
Thankful for our Noni who helped him make this hat and the burlap apple bag, so his teacher is aware that I do read the class notes.
Also, there were 20 apples in that bag because "someone" volunteered me to bring apples for the class that day. This boy knows me too well; I am my mother's daughter.
So much about this that I love: his spelling of football, the fact that he looks a little like a muppet, his handwriting and, most of all, the fact that he gave himself one blue and one green eye.
He is so proud of that.
Pediatric Cataract-1.
The high stakes of elementary school fundraising is a real thing. We sold enough coupon books for him to get a bunch of coupons (ironic) and this lava lamp that he LOVES! I cannot volunteer in his class, but I feel like the school really just wants money anyway, so I have done my part.
I set a goal to sell 15 because there is an after school party and we sold way more than than. If I can write something down on a list, it will get checked off every time. To be fair, my list checking off gene comes from my mom and she helped me sell some, too.
He made this one day and sounded out al of the words and everything. He didn't quite finish it, but I was so amazed that he sat still long enough to do this.
Back to that "I am related to my mother" thing, I volunteered to help teach Sunday school and I am now reminded every week why I went into Secondary education.
Seriously, it is pretty cute to watch the little kids and I get to hang out with Anderson and Jack every Sunday, so there are some wins.
Max gets so jealous about the fun that he cries so much in the nursery that he gets to join us, too.
Love these 2 boys.
GG & Noni are my saviors and pick him up for me on days that I have to work late. To say he is happy about this arrangement would be an understatement.
ABC Boot Camp Day! Sometimes God loves me so, so much and this was proven by the fact that Anderson chose a marine outfit for halloween...just in time for camo day.
Homework is usually done on the counter; it is our happy place.
To be fair, homework is not our happy place. But, the counter makes it tolerable.
A parent sent this pic of their first day in the library out to the parents and I LOVED when I realized who the ONE kid with his hand up was. Question or comment, either way, I love that he is participating in the library.
Max/Michelangelo & I surprised Anderson at lunch one day and it was seriously adorable to see him acting like a grown up.
**The surprise was that daycare called me at 8:07 to pick up Max because he was "sick" and I was NOT about to waste a day off and not at least accomplish something, so to lunch we went. Also, Max was so awful that day and we could not stay in the house.
It was really so awful of me to bring the poor guy out when he was so sick. Seriously, Max is in his ELEMENT when he is at some kind of big kid party/festibal/Hio situation.
For example- a party from a few weeks ago where Max got to tag along as the plus one.
In other new's-Max is everyone's happiness.

He's so sweet! What is up with the Titanic?!?!?! hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI went to shoot you a message on Facebook and realized you ARE NO LONGER ON IT!!!!! I won't pry and ask WHY, but I will send you my original message because I immediately thought of you. Emerson got this kit and we've recently added water and watched the sea creatures grow. I thought, "Oh my word, Melissa's boys love animals AND science, I MUST tell her about it". BUT if your boys might think it's totally creepy because when they get bigger the triops start eating each OTHER then I would understand. It's actually super cool and I find myself staring at it. Our first kit took 6 days to hatch. This one took 2 and they grow FAST. At one point we had 11 triops but now it's closer to 4 since the biggest apparently is hungry. :) It has 50% horrible reviews on Amazon but honestly my family has LOVED it.

Oh, and don't think of it as a pet.....it's a science project. They die out after a few weeks.
DeleteAre you tired of me yet? haha
Anderson will continue to excel at school. He is so smart. Max is "just Max". I love that you are my daughter, how lucky am I .
ReplyDeleteHis boot camp outfit is cracking me up. Go big or go home! I love your idea of mixing up homework locations - must steal that. And don't feel bad about not making the me bag. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't make it into Jack's. At least not before MarioKart or pretzel 😉 He's doing so great in school! And we are doing so great surviving it with them!
