My do it. Watch tractors me!

Toddlerhood is definitely happening in our house. Anderson wants to do everything himself. We have to let him climb in his booster seat at the table (I can't even hold the chair to keep it stable), get in the tub himself, climb in the car and into his seat AND let him buckle the straps, put his pants on, etc., etc. He says, "My do it!", "Aesson do it!" or "You do it!" This last phrase is because I ask him, "Do you want to do it or do you want Bobble to?" Ha. Lately he has started putting his patch on himself. He has to pick out his own color & then he runs & hides somewhere while he puts it on. This sounds sweet and helpful. Sometimes (see above) he does a pretty good job, but the times he doesn't can be a bit rough because he refuses to let me help. Love his little heart. And, no matter who puts it on, it lasts about a minute. You know, give or take 60 seconds.

Riding his bike with Dad. There's that moon again! Obsessed.
In an effort to calm the Grumpiness last week when he was sick, we went to McDonald's for ice cream where he had to eat the cone himself. He doesn't really "eat" so he mostly just played with it.Check out the personalized train shirt from GG! He is really, really into trains lately. Anything in the transportation realm, really.
The toddler bed. Once we could no longer ignore the fact that he can climb out, we switched it. He was hilarious & so confused. He kept looking through the slats for the other side. He was very excited and kept saying, "big boy bed!"

*pillowcase was free from inkgarden.com! use code forfree. (I think it works through December) I did pay for shipping, but how cute is it??
He did really well the first night & went to bed after just a few times of us putting him back in bed. Then, in the middle of the night, I hear, "Watch tractors me!" Um, no. It is not even 3am. He looked so cute just standing in the hallway. But, he wasn't so cute when we were still awake 3 hours later. I bought a doorknob cover that day. So far, so good (knock on wood...) with the bed. He does wake up earlier (5:30), and is very loud at the door! He has woken up once or twice each night & is really confused, yelling for me & then just looking kind of lost when I check on him.

Playdate with Jack! I love going to Clare's because Jack has all of these great toys so the boys play & we actually get to talk! Contrary to popular belief, we never actually see each other at work-teaching does not involve a lot of down time-so it's nice to catch up. How stinkin cute is Jack's hair?
I left the water running when I was about to shower and as I got a towel this happened. Diaper, glasses, patch, dump truck....

I love this kid.

And, here is yet another high quality, focused video that does not have my voice really loud in the background.

  2. precious boy! molly started climbing out of crib on the night of her birthday. she wakes up at about 4 am and climbs out and wanders into our room. i guess i am going to have to take the front rail off, too. makes me sad. and also, i like her contained at night! you are so funny talking about the terrible girl at the party. i also thought her outfit was shameful. im not saying you need to dress up, but at least wear normal pants that fit and a shirt that hasn't been in the floor of her room for a week! i am going to have to get a pillowcase. i tried a million times to make a placemat and everytime i tried to save it and add it to my cart it told me there was an error! boo. hopfully the pillowcase works.

  4. Anderson cracks me up! The shower picture is hilarious and the video is equally as funny. He's confused but totally happy. It's like he's trying it out "this is how I will now lay down. Wait, where did the slats go? Oh, there still at the bottom of the bed." I love that boy!

  5. Ok I'm back... still laughing and I have to say... What gets me the most is that you actually stopped to go get the camera and take a pic of him in the shower before going in to get him. You are such an awesome mom. I love how you embrace childhood, innocence and curiosity. Thank you for sharing your life with us blog readers, I learn so much from you and not just Eye related stuff. Anderson, your family and friends are all so lucky to have you... as am I, even if in cyber land. :)

  6. I wondered when I seen the first picture if he had decided he was old enough to apply the patch. I was going to ask and the you answered. :) Too cute. That stage is fun. All of them are, really, but this one where he can express his feelings more and more in words is a blast, in my opinion.

  8. Love the shower pic! And you are welcome at our house anytime - even at 6am b/c lord knows we are up! And it's so nice to be able to catch up on a Saturday morn - since most of the time at school you are the blur I see running from classroom to workroom to copy room to classroom :)
