Finally....tubes!

This guy has had 7 antibiotics in 3 months...some number of ear infections (we are not sure how many because it seemed like some of them were just the same, stubborn ones that refused to leave us) and a definite need for some tubes.

He was so good the morning of the surgery & since he is so young, he was first up that morning, which helped calm a Bobble's nerves.
Even though I knew it was going to be a relatively short "procedure", I still snuggled the heck out of him & clung to him when it was time to hand him over. (I also picked Hughes' brain about the anesthesia & called a friend of ours who is a nurse at Children's to make sure that she texted our people with a good word about this Mr.) Since he is under 12 months, he did not get the "happy juice", but he was pretty good about going with the nurse.
With the exception of being a little tired, he was great right after we got home!

*Perspective: we have to put drops in his ears twice a day for a week and make him sit for a total of 3.5 hours (15 minutes/2x a day....is that 3.5 hours? someone double check my math) The doctor was like, "Read a book with him, play with a favorite toy; he is not going to want to leave the cotton balls in and it is going to be a challenge."

I giggled.

3.5 hours!! Total. Hilarious. That is a day in the life of an iKid AFTER 3 years of patching. I think we can do that ;)

Everyone says that tubes are some kind of "miracle' and I cannot imagine him being any more perfect that he already is!

  1. I know how you felt-when Shannon had her tubes put in and the nurse took her from my arms I acted like she was going in for brain surgery. (God send your best angels to help the parents of the sick children of St Jude) Glad it is over and unless they come out early (Keith's did) he will be fine.

  3. awesome pic of you holding him. I didn't like handing Jacob over for circumcision and all of the tests they did on him when he was first born. Can't even imagine going through an actual "procedure."
