no theme, just some pics

We got to celebrate Big Cousin Noah's birthday last week!! He saw something about Ye Olde Steakhouse on the Food Network a few years ago and we have never made it there, so we went that night to celebrate. How did my youngest nephew become 15?? What on earth. Wasn't it just Christmas Eve and Amanda was announcing that she was pregnant? Love this kid and his wittiness and his perspective and comments and overall wonderfulness.
This is what crafting looks like at a house of boys. I seriously gave them each a tube of travel toothpaste (they were expired, I wasn't wasting them), some sprinkles and toothpicks. Lily took it very seriously and Anderson used an entire carton of sprinkles at one time.
How does anyone have twins?? (Mom, that is directed at you). And, how does Nicole accomplish anything without being constantly distracted by REESE and that grin??
Possibly my mom was meant to have twins, so there is the answer.
What it looks like when the cousins come to visit. I love turning my parenting over to them.
Publix has only one tiny flaw and that is the fact that their car carts don't have room for the younger sibling and the actual food. But, we make do, because the Buy one Get one deals are worth it.

Anderson officially moved to Pre-K at school. ( He must stop there because I cannot handle him actually going to kindergarten). Here are a few things from his cubby. Love the Show & Tell pic of him & Lily.

My mom is the reason that I have any sanity left after 5 weeks at work.

We took Anderson to his first baseball game at a stadium close to Knoxville. It was pretty epic because he had nachos, ice cream and got a cool hat!
That face down there if you look closely is Max in his baseball outfit! A group of Powell staff reserved a block of seats, so Max was pretty much taken from me for most of the night. (*Sidenote: who knew a year ago that I would be this happy being a Panther? I never imagined I could be as happy as I was at Farragut. While I still miss my students, seeing Clare everyday, being an Admiral, in general, it turns out, I am pretty happy in orange and black, too!)
 Five-O
Real life is not baseball games and dinner with cousins; it is taking both kids to the grocery store and leaving unscathed.

  1. Mom was seriously hard wired to have twins. I was not.

Max's face in the middle of the row while someone snuggles him'!!

Yay for orange and black. I think we all knew deep down it was the case.

    Super Target AND Publix. Sigh.

Noah. He IS full of wonderfulness

  2. Oh... The toothpaste and sprinkles. Hahaha. Their facial expressions are hilarious- Anderson looks excited about being destructive. Lily looks alarmed at his lack of seriousness while crafting.

  4. Boy crafting is the best.
Grocery stores with two kids are my personal idea of hell.
Your mom remains one of my idols of motherhood perfection.

  5. Publix needs to get with the shopping cart program-please. I love Anderson's face at the bball game. Max remains the perfect boy to the point where it's unreal! And lastly, I'm so glad you are enjoying Powell and I'm happy that it is finally getting easier for you BUT... I still miss not seeing you every day :( I still look for your car in the parking lot.

  6. i love that anderson has his shoes off at the restaurant at noah's bday dinner. that has been a fight with jacob since that age also. when he would wear crocs or flip flops it was ok. but now he refuses to wear anything besides tennis shoes. so it takes him forever to get them back on. he doesn't actually take them off in public places anymore. but every time we are in the car he does. so if we have 5 errands to run, he takes them off each time and each time we arrive in the parking lot i have to wait for him to put them back on. i finally freaked out a couple weeks ago and declared no taking shoes off in the car ever again. it lasted a week.

so you work with claire? i did not realize that! that is nice.

taking one kid to the grocery (or anywhere) is horrible. taking 2? just shoot me.

    1. oh, the toothpaste and sprinkles!!! i just love you and your mom-of-boy-ness. classic. awesome. and lily does look slightly alarmed. for her sake you may need to buy a few "lily visit only" craft supplies...although, it is nice to keep it real...

  7. I love that you made sure to let everyone know you weren't being wasteful. Hahaha! Looks like fun.

I think that one of the best things about going to the grocery store is proving that you can survive the apocalypse. I mean, seriously, it isn't for the faint of heart. I come out of there with my screaming kids, with my arms in the air like I ran a marathon. I don't really, but I feel like it. I think a medal should be given to the mothers as they walk out. Special mentions should be given to those with toddlers throwing tantrums.

  8. I usually end up unscathed at the grocery store... but I can't say the same for the other patrons! Haha!

Fun post, and as always, fun pics!
