Julia Roberts.

One of our friends got married last weekend and we were able to attend & had such a great time! This was the first time since Anderson was born that we went somewhere by ourselves. I am the awesome mom who has left my kid on quite a few occasions and Brandon has traveled once or twice for work. But, traveling with just the 2 of us was so perfect!
These 2 were randomly assigned as roommates at UT about 13 years ago. Way to go, UT housing! (that is a shout out to you, Jeannie Hopper!)
We left the Bug, but we took a bit of him with us. Brandon found this old, melted patch on the bottom of his shoe. They literally are everywhere in our lives.
There were a few specific moments where I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. First, on Saturday while Brandon was playing golf I just hung out. It. was. wonderful. Seriously, I just clearance shopped at Target (they were all nice to me, there weren't any "Big mistake. Huge" moments. I secretly hoped there would be, but maybe I shouldn't wish for confrontation.) The rest of the day was spent watching tv (I literally never watch tv, this was exciting) and eating random snacks (have you had this deliciousness? Don't be conceived by the bag that says there are 6 servings in there). And, it wasn't just any tv, it was TEEN MOM! I felt just like Julia must have felt when she was in the bubbly bath listening to Prince. Oh, and they had a waffle bar at breakfast! Julia ate waffles in the breakfast scene when her hair is all crazy(possibly another connection there). I realize that I need to get out more, but just bear with me, this was exciting.
Liz is from Korea & they did these festive Korean rituals at their rehearsal. Not only is she from Korea, but Ben & Liz live in Hong Kong so their wedding was definitely the most multi cultural one I've ever been to. They have traveled everywhere and the pics displayed at their reception were taken in places like Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, etc. When we walked up to the Rehearsal Dinner, his aunt asked us if we were in from China. We said, no...Knoxville. Ha ha.
The parents throw fruit and nuts at them to determine the number of kids they will have. Ben's mom clearly wants some grandkids because she was going  crazy with the throwing. Also, Ben had to carry his fiance, his mother in law and his own mother around the table as a part of the ritual. Possibly the best part of the weekend.
Such a fun time!
I will point out that I am wearing a brown polka dot dress (just like Julia...) with my hottie husband.
Cupcakes (yes, I tried one of each) at the reception!
The guys. Ben had their tuxes made in China (literally. they sent their sizes and a tailor custom made them.)Ben has 2 brothers and a sister & wanted everyone on his side, so his sister was a groomswoman. Also, Ben bought them all these fun shoes to wear.

Yay!!

**Huge shout out to Noni & GG who kept Anderson massively entertained while we were gone! Also, my mom kept the dogs, so thanks for that! (Really, keeping Gabs is like a treat because she is so sweet and will serve as a guard dog in a pinch. Chloe...not so much.)

  5. Gotta love time away with your man! I love the patch that never left, I hope he left it there?! ;) You both look amazing in all the pics. I'm starting to feel Anderson looks a bit more like his Daddy now. Maybe it's a boy thing, Easton looks more like Rick too.

  6. I am jealous you guys could get away as a couple. But seriously, very cool... Gotta love TV time that doesn't involve a kid show. Also the patch is too funny. We will never escape that crazy sticky thing. It will always be stuck in our brains indelibly.

  7. I love that you guys got to get away together! I literally can't imagine how awesome that must be. I LOVE the Pretty Woman references. ..one of my all time favorites, and I would love to feel as free as she does at moments hanging out in that fancy hotel room. My fav is the patch on the bottom of the shoe! We're already finding patch scraps everywhere from trimming them down. I am just waiting for the day I wear one to work square on my back or bum. I will take pictures.
