Decade.

As a history nerd I am a pretty big fan of most of the decades of the past few centuries. I have a hard time deciding on my favorite, though. I like the 1870's time of Laura Ingalls Wilder, the early 20th Century with Teddy Roosevelt, the WWII era, the music of the1960's, the 1980's with the Reagan conservatism. It is too much. But, I have decided that my favorite decade is that last one; it's the decade I've spent with my husband! We've only been married 6 years, but we've been together for 10 this year. An entire decade. He is so lucky. Kidding. Since this is my scrapblog, I wanted to document a bit of our past, so here is a picture or 2 from each year of the last 10! They are totally random because a lot of my pics were on a picture site that is changing and I can't access them right now. Grrr...

2002 We met working at TGIFriday's where we both worked. I fell in love the first time I saw him leaning against the giant Santa on the wall. His right foot was propped up against the wall.Sigh. Love at first sight really is an understatement when it happens to you. I kept looking for the pic of him standing like that but couldn't find it. Then I realized it wasn't actually a real picture, just a ridiculously clear memory stamped in my brain. Ha ha!
I took him skydiving for his first present from me because I knew we were soulmates & wanted to start it off right. That is not him attached to me. That would be Eduardo, my tandem partner. Who did not speak English. Awesome.

This is a badly scanned copy of the 2 of us.

 My dorm room!!
Not entirely sure if this was 2002 or 03, but it was somewhere around there.

 2003
UT game
Cookout at Emily's!

 2004
I think we were at the circus here. Maybe. Not sure.

Nicole & Hughes' wedding! I caught the bouquet. I guess it worked.
We bought Chloe together, which was clearly an very intelligent decision as it bound us together over our slightly satanic puppy. She is wonderful, but, wow. She was a crazy puppy.
He completed RCIA that year! Love some Catholics:)
Slip & Slide time when my nephews were visiting
 2005
Graduation from the Police Academy! So proud of him for being so unselfish & working to protect others.Being married to a person in law enforcement is it's own sort of world. Let's just say there is a reason the phrase is "Banker's hours" and not "Police Officer's hours" (or as Nicole & Jessica are thinking, "Doctor's hours") Anyway, the hours are crazy, the work is varied & he wears a bullet proof vest to work. He is truly so unselfish & works so hard to provide for  us and keep the world (or Knoxville, anyway) safe.
Engaged! I was completely & totally surprised. Literally didn't even shower before dinner. I had no idea.
 2006
The wedding. Love.
The honeymoon! In hindsight we should've saved the money & gone on a vacation now when we are really tired and just need to lay around not doing anything.
How tan were we? Very.
 2007
Christmas!
We got our Gabs & became a family of 4.

 2008
Lucky us. We chaperoned a trip to Europe called "Battlefields of Europe" & the best stop was Omaha Beach in Normandy. Pappaw fought there during WWII so we wanted to thank him for his service. One of my favorite pics ever.
Looks fake. It's not. My hair would not look like that if I photoshopped this.

2009
Another year, another trip:) Seriously, our lives are really not as exciting as these pics look. We did have so much fun on this trip.
We went to Italy & Greece
Brandon turned 30 & I gave him a surprise party
And, we found out I was pregnant! (That made for a fun time hiking around the ruins of Greece:)

It was also the year I temporarily had bangs. Scary. How great is this card Brandon made, though?
 2010
Oh, that Bug. Just love all around in 2010.
The family.
2011
First family beach trip! Hilton Head!

More Anderson than us, but isn't that what "we" really are?
We can still shake it pretty well.

2012

The cruise! Now I really think it looks like we are some kind of hard core vacationers, but really I just have a lot of pics of us on trips because who wants to take a picture of laundry and working overtime?

So, point is, I am one lucky girl. Here's to many more decades!

  3. Awh cute post... Happy Anniversary! A decade seems crazy doesn't it, my husband and I meet in 2001 at work as well, but not Friday's although that is where we got engaged. We also married in 2006. I had to laugh at your "bangs" pic, love old hair styles! By the way, I've said this before... you can literally re-post that family pic of basically just Anderson in all your posts and I will love it every time!!!

  5. I still remember when you first met him. It really was crazy, because I knew he would be the future BIL.

    We are getting old.

Love the trips, the worms, the bug, the skydiving, the not showering before the proposal, etc... I think I proved that I can keep a secret with that one. Pat on the back.

happy Anniversary. How was the mall or movie? I forgot to ask.

  7. This makes me happy. I love it. I have seen most of these before, but I still love love love that baby pic of Anderson and think you were a gorgeous bride. And I am cracking up at Massey Hall - now mostly freshmen boys! Nuts!

And if you are ever wondering - I would totally date you if you take me skydiving and to Europe. Just sayin.

  8. awesome post!! but dear cousin, if my memory serves me, the reason you caught your sister's bouquet is because she pretty much turned around and through it straight at you. that was after she went around telling everyone, "i'm going to throw this to melissa. don't catch it." but we will keep that in the family *wink wink*
