Cousins. Aunts. Uncle.

Our family has this weird trend with cousins. It seems there is always a pair of opposite gender. In most cases, the girl is older. Quick flashback to Zack and Shannon-maybe 30 years ago? Or longer, I don't really know. Anyway, they were BFF when they were little...
Then, Nicole & I were paired up with Michael & Keith. More specifically, I was always on Michael's team, while Nicole was always with Keith. This applied to kickball games, really elaborate "Olympic" games & just life, in general. I have no idea how this happened, but it just fit. They lived next door (literally, in the house 50 yards away from us) for most of our childhood until they move a mile away & were were pretty devastated.

Next up, Jacob & Morgan. They are about 4 months apart & the only exception to the girl being older thing. They make me SO excited about Anderson & Lily in a few years!

Now, it's Lily & Anderson! She is excited about the Hot Dog song & he is excited about a garbage truck, which is a surprise. 4 sets of cousins (5 if you count Me/Nicole/Michael/Keith separate) have started a pretty nice trend, I think.
They were so sweet with Anderson & let him walk all over their Lego creations & steal all of the SpongeBob dominoes without even complaining.

So, I saw a little glimpse into my future. We went to Michael's to get a craft. Morgan picked out a tote bag complete with fabric paint, glue on flowers & cute designs. Jacob chose a brush robot that required screwdrivers, batteries & actual knowledge of wiring. Shannon is totally a trooper & they both turned out really cute/robotic.
Playing in the wagon. With Noni right behind, just in case.
Anderson loves his Bobble Cole & Lily was so sweet to share her! She was in the middle of moving her life (for the 3rd time in the last few years) & stopped everything to play with a boy.
Another small difference between a girl & a boy...lily in the hat, cover up & sunblock...
Anderson diving face first into the cement to get a ball.
SNOW!!! I saved it in January because I knew we would need it one day!
Jacob & Morgan showing us how it's done.
Unfortunately, we had to cut the visit short to go to an eye appointment in Bham. Fortunately, we got to see Aunt Manda, Uncle Zack & more cousins! This is, somehow, one of the only pics I got with Noah in it. He was so good with Anderson & always on "patch duty". I need to rent him to come to Knoxville with us.
New toys from Aunt Manda-always.
Uncle/Godfather Zack arranged for us to tour the Public Transportation facility (or something like that) in Hoover. It was the BIG time.

Seriously, we were MVPs.
Firetruck from the 1940's! WWII!
He is so lucky to have family who spoil him & love him so much!
Noah, again! Anderson liked everyone else's snow cones better than his.
He stole Aunt Manda's! We need to rent her, too.

Anderson's cousin, Jack, came over for an extensive play date, including a walk, pool time & a bath! It was excellent!

  1. Love the "cousin" pictures - never really thought about it until I saw these. Next time around, you need a girl & Nicole a boy

  2. Hi, I have been following your blog and comments from Missy's blog, Vision is a gift. I noticed that you have been having lots of summer fun with your little one, especially patching around water. I was wondering if you know of any good waterproof patches? My son, Easton is patching as well. I noticed during bath time and the 3 times he has been swimming now, that the glue from his patch gets exceptionally sticky when wet. So I unfortunately I have been taking the patch off around water since it irritates his skin. I am just anticipating that I can not always do that for the next hummmmmm 8 years?! LOL If you have any recommendations, I would appreciate it. Thanks! :)
PS. I did an internet search on waterproof patches and got material for hiking backpacks! I guess patches arn't very popular in today's market?! ha.

  3. First, I am pretty sure I look homeless in all 3 pics of me on this post, including the one where we are 8.

Also, love the cousins! I remember being devastated when Keith and Michael moved a mile ago.

And, I kept thinking that "I want to be in this family, with the cousins and the uncle who takes me to garbage trucks and the NOah and the Aunt Manda and the Noni behind the wagon." Then, I realized I was in this family. Haha.
