This year Anderson's basketball team played in 2 different leagues. The new one, WBBL, is much more competitive and they definitely had to step it up a bit. We like this one because the competition was definitely a challenge and the whole team really improved.
The other league, CBFO, is the one he has played on for the last 2 years and it was definiitely a nice boost of confidence for the boys, as they went into the post-season undefeated. They ended up placing 2nd in the tournament which caused serious devastation. His 2nd grade team played a team of 3rd graders who they beat during the regular season. They lost the tournament and there was some serious disappointment. Anderson refused to take a pic with the 2nd place medal and, in fact, tried to throw it in the trash. It sounds like poor sportsmanship, but I like that he is competitive and recognizes that first place is, in fact, the best. And, he managed to keep it together until we got in the car, so he was a good sport in show.
Regardless, his team had a really good season as they learned to play together and beat older/taller (ALWAYS TALLER) kids.
In addition to playing basketball, we watched a lot of it, too. Before I switched schools, Anderson attended many an AE game with me.
A few of his teammates came to the AE/Fulton game after their game and Anderson loved showing them all around and telling them about the players.
These 2 were reunited in basketball again and I loved it.
Most Saturdays they played more than one game so there was lots of bonding time in the bleachers.
I don't have a lot of pics during the games, but here is one where he is on defense.
Anderson's real passion is football and he really has to work harder in basketball because it just involves so much more. He practiced A LOT (3 times a week, most of the time) and really had to commit himself to improve. He definitely contributed to the team and I was really proud of how hard he worked. He was very agressive on defense, had more steals than anyone on his team and always guarded the best player. He fouled out more than once, but I was always proud of him because, you know, Go Big or Go Home.
Lots of visits to GG's & Noni's to play some hoops.
Poor Max has attended SO many hours of practices and games. He is better every year, but he is still 4 and multiple hours of trying to entertain him/keep him off of the court requires more patience than I possess.
This was a separate day but he is wearing the same shirt. This was actually a practice and I think it was right before he found the microphone on the stage, turned it on and started talking into it while 3 different teams were practicing in the gym.
Upside down pic of another celebrity newspaper printing.
He always had an amazing cheer section, of course.
These boys in their shooter shirts warming up before a game.
Also, basketball is not over for him yet because we have decided to allow him to continue on with some post-season tournaments. I guess this is where our sanity and our money start to leave us.
